Tokyo Party Report by Samantha Mariko – January 2019

How is it that it’s already February? January sped by so quickly with my Indonesia trip, touring with Japanese R&B singer RIRI as her DJ, and also DJing weekly now at PLUS TOKYO in Ginza. I’ve somehow managed to squeeze in a few parties and events in January despite my crazy work schedule. For me, parties are always a great excuse to see my friends and meet new people, so I try to go to as many as my schedule permits. Anyways, this party report starts off with a big bang from the Louis Vuitton SS 2019 men’s collection reception party, followed by other fashion, art and beauty events. Enjoy!

1月があっという間に過ぎてしまい、もうすでに2月に突入しましたね！先月はインドネシアに行ったり、RIRIのバックDJとして全国ツアーに参加したり、銀座のPLUS TOKYOでレギュラーDJをさせていただいたりで、バタバタの1月でした。それでもやっぱりパーティーに参加したい！友達に会えるし、新しい出会いの場でもあるので、なるべく多くのイベントには出席しています。年始から超豪華なルイ・ヴィトンのパーティーに出席することができ、その他にも素敵なイベントに行って来ました！東京パーティーレポート、是非お楽しみください！

Louis Vuitton’s SS 2019 Men’s Collection Pop-up Store Reception Party

From January 10th to 31st, Louis Vuitton opened its pop-up store in Harajuku to showcase the men’s 2019 SS collection. LV artistic director Virgil Abloh was inspired by “The Wizard of Oz” and colorful light spectrum for this collection, and the pop-up reflected his vision. Because the building is made of glass, you can already see the beautiful rainbow colors of the LV logo and the huge, 2-stories tall statue of “Rainbow Man.” The reception party took place on the 9th, and guests were able to get first dibs on the fabulous items from the collection. I was amazed at the variety of photo ops within this building (most parties only have one or two at most) and all the details, including the monogrammed walls and flooring. What a great way to start off the new year with a flourish!

ルイ･ヴィトンは、2019年1月10日(木)から1月31日(木)まで、ヴァージル･アブローによる2019春夏メンズコレクションのポップアップストアを東京･原宿にオープンしました。映画『オズの魔法使い』と光のプリズムから着想を得た2019春夏メンズ･コレクション。当ポップアップストアは、一面ガラス張りの建物に施されたレインボーカラーのモノグラムモチーフや、店内に登場する巨大なレインボーマンなど、コレクションの世界観がすごく伝わってくるようなポップアップストアでした。フォトスポットも多かったので、パーティー中は写真を撮ったり、そして一足先にお買い物をするゲストもいました。壁やフローリングもモノグラムモチーフで埋め尽くされていたので、写真映えが半端なかったです！

InstantFunk Pop-up Store Opening Event @ GINZA SIX

South Korea’s most sought-after fashion stylist Kim Ji Hye’s brand “InstantFunk” held its pop-up at GINZA SIX. Having styled celebrities such as BLACKPINK, TWICE and BTS in the past, I could already tell that this collection was something to look forward to. The name of the brand derives from the roots of modern African-American culture based on subculture, digilog, trendy classics which symbolize the “funk,” and to fulfill the needs in that “instant” – hence, “InstantFunk.” This collection fuses vintage with high-end street fashion, resulting in a fresh take on what streetwear is all about. While I loved the pullovers and coats at the pop-up, my favorite was the silk teal dress with an asymmetrical hemline. Absolutely stunning!

BLACKPINK、TWICE、BTS等のスタイリングも手掛ける、韓国で一番有名なスタイリスト「キム・ジエ（KIM JI HYE）」が手掛けるブランド『InstantFunk』のポップアップ ストアが、GINZA SIXに2018年1月16日 (水)よりオープンしました。1月18日（金）、1月25日（金）にはオープンを記念したイベントを開催。イベントに合わせ、デザイナーのキム・ジエと、イ・ジュヨンも来日しました。今最も必要なニーズを満たすまさに今その瞬間＝Instantと、サブカルチャーを元に現代黒人文化の根幹 デジログ、トレンディクラシック＝Funkを組み合わせ、ヴィンテージとハイストリートファッションの境界線で新しさを追求しています。

SABON “ROSE SPLASH” Reception Party @ Atelier SABON

SABON recently opened “Atelier SABON” in Nakameguro, and did a launch party for its ROSE SPLASH limited edition collection just in time for Valentine’s Day. The entire atelier was decorated in reds and pinks, creating such a cute & cozy atmosphere for a girls-only party. My friend Leina and I enjoyed testing out the new products – I loved the lush, rose scent, perfect for Valentine’s!

2019年のバレンタインは、ロマンスのシンボル“ローズ”をモチーフにした新コレクション「ROSE SPALSH」がSABONより展開しました。「幸せを呼ぶピンクのローズ。赤と白を混ぜるとピンク。毎回ワクワクする混ぜ色。そして、出来上がるピンクはそのとき限りの“マイピンク”。テクスチャーで磨かれた肌が、幸せを呼ぶ香りで匂い立つ。香って、纏って、アートが完成する。幸せを呼ぶマイピンクを、がんばる自分に贈りたい。次の一歩が踏み出せるように。」このようなメッセージが込められたROSE SPLASHコレクションのお披露目パーティーは可愛らしく、女の子が喜びそうな空間でした。友達の玲奈と新商品を色々試してみました。良い香り❤️

Agnés b. Photo Exhibition “NEW WAVE” Opening Reception Party

Agnés b. is having a special photo exhibition in their art gallery space in Minamiaoyama until March 3rd titled “NEW WAVE” with photography by French photo-journalist Pierre René-Worms. The brand itself is deeply inspired by the “new wave” rock culture of the late 70s to early 80s. The 40 photographs displayed were taken by René-Worms between 1977 and 1983, and allows us to take a glimpse into the lives of big-name artists and musicians from that time period. If you love music, history and/or photography, I highly recommend checking this exhibition out!

アニエスベーは、1/19 (土) から3/3（日）の期間中、青山店B１F ギャラリースペースにて、フランス人フォトジャーナリスト Pierre René-Worms (ピエール・レネ=ウォルムス)氏による写真展『NEW WAVE』を開催します。アニエスベーが愛する 70年代後半から80年代前半に隆盛をみせたロックジャンル”NEWWAVE”。アーティスト達の当時の熱を閉じ込めた写真が40点展示販売されている本展は、ピエール・レネ=ウォルムス氏が 1977 年から 1983 年にかけて撮影した若きレジェンドアーティスト達のパーソナルな写真も展示していました。音楽、歴史、写真が好きな方にはオススメのエキシビションです！

CONVERSE STARS Launch Reception Party @ SHARE GREEN

CONVERSE will be debuting a new brand this spring called “CONVERSE STARS.” This brand will feature ageless, gender-neutral and inclusive pieces for anyone to enjoy. Emphasized are key phrases “Pick your size” and “Choose your mood,” where consumers can freely choose from basic pieces like T-shirts and sweats for their favorite colors and sizes. The reception launch party took place at a cafe space in SHARE GREEN Minamiaoyama, which was the perfect place to display this new collection. CONVERSE is one of my favorite brands, and I can’t wait to include some of the pieces from CONVERSE STARS into my wardrobe!

100年の歴史を持つCONVERSEから生まれた新ブランドCONVERSE STARS が2019年春、デビューします。CONVERSE STARSが繰り広げる、エイジレスでジェンダーフリー、インクルーシブな世界観を披露しました。”Pick your size,” “Choose your mood,” をキーワードに、着る人の気分やファッションに合わせてサイズやカラーを自由にチョイスでいるように、Tシャツやスウェットなどのベーシックアイテムを中心に、サイズ・カラーレンジを豊富に展開。パーティーは、SHARE GREEN南青山という緑、広場、カフェ、ショップとオフィス集まった場所で開催されました。倉庫みたいな広い会場に、テイクアウトスタイルのケータリングを楽しみながら、CONVERSE STARSのアパレルやシューズ、アクセサリーなどを一足先に見ることができました。
