La Fondue Tokyo presents a Winter Formal 2020

Happy 2021 all! I hope everyone is having a great New Year despite the circumstances. Tokyo is under another state of emergency with a curfew, meaning many eateries and club venues are closing earlier or are closed for the time being. I’m glad my La Fondue Tokyo team was able to host this Winter Formal event last month. It is a bit overdue, but I am so proud of our photo booth set up that there’s no way I’m not sharing photos!

皆さん、新年あけましておめでとうございます！現在都内では緊急事態宣言が再び出ましたが、皆さんにとって良い一年になることを願っています。先月記事アップを予定していたのがだいぶ遅くなりましたが、去年の１２月５日に開催したウィンターフォーマルのイベントについて書きたいなと思いました。

We held our first Winter Formal event at Pullman Tokyo Tamachi on December 5th, 2020. While it’s normal in the States to experience formal dances in high school, Japanese high schools don’t have this custom. We thought it would be fun to try a throwback-style formal event where our Japanese guests could experience an American high school tradition, while people like me could relive our high school memories.

イベントプロダクションチームLa Fondue Tokyo初のウィンターフォーマルを無事開催することができました。Pullman Tokyoの９階はテラススペースもあるということで、コロナ感染予防対策も兼ねてこちらのロケーションを選びました。アメリカの高校生はプロムなどのフォーマルダンスを経験するのは普通ですが、日本の文化にはないということで一度このようなイベントを再現してみたいと思いました。私みたいにアメリカで育った人にとっては、懐かしい感じのイベントにしたかったです。

Our main attraction was definitely the festive photo booth space with a satin backdrop and pretty balloons. I think we did a pretty good job with this under a budget. We had Davis Uesugi Koffee as our live painter in the lounge area. The DJs threw it back with 90s and 2000s throwback hits, and we announced the best-dressed at the party as the Winter Formal prince and princess. We can’t wait to do a Prom event in the spring!

今回のメインアトラクションはやはりフォトブース！サテンとフェスティヴな風船で飾り、専用のカメラマンも用意しました。予算少ない中、結構いい感じに仕上がったと思います。また、DJには９０年代、２０００年代の懐かしい曲をプレイしてもらい、ダンスフロアも盛り上がりました。イベント最後に、一番おしゃれな男女にウィンターフォーマルプリンス＆プリンセスを発表しました！久しぶりにドレスアップできて、来ていただいた人も楽しんでたみたいで良かったです。
