Photo-shooting with Nahoko, round 2. It was Monday, I didn’t know what to wear on this chilly February day, so I threw together some of my favorite items at the moment. Sort of resembling a sorceress… not intentionally though. I almost wore my plaid scarf from Uniqlo until I realized it looked hideous with the rest of the outfit (what was I thinking?). Time and time again, I am always reminded that you can never go wrong with black.
I think I’m starting to build a minimalist wardrobe. I recently found an article about minimalism via Into Mind blog, and it thoroughly explained what minimalism is and how to get started on such a wardrobe. I wear the same key pieces over and over again, combining them with others so I don’t get bored with myself. I would much rather spend extra money on an item I really like than have too many less expensive and poor quality items. I ended up getting rid of a huge chunk of my wardrobe recently, and I realized they were all pieces I just picked up on a whim. Bad habit. I also believe owning less items forces you to be creative when creating daily outfits. 🙂
Yet again, Nahoko did an amazing job. We went from location to location to yet another location on our short lunch break, which resulted in all these cool shots. When she saw my outfit, the first thing she said was, ” I like it, you remind me of a sorceress.” Awesome.
coat: Le Ciel Bleu; knit dress: Madewell; skirt: Zara; shoes: Nike; scarf: Uniqlo; watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs

i love minimalist wardrobes! they are so classy. that coat is gorgeous Sam. fabulous fountain.
i love this sorceress-esque vibe! so great for this time in winter. great photographs.
cleaning out your closet translates well to cleaning up the mind as a blank slate for creativity- totally agree. less is more 🙂
Wow your friend Nahoko take a great shoot! I love all the pictures and your black outfit! You look great when you wear trainer shoes! <3
Really incredible outfit – I love minimal oversized monochrome looks like this. Although I have the feeling that if I attempted this, I would just be lost in fabric. I love Into Mind's blog too and although I do not think I am ready to make the plunge into minimalistic wardrobes entirely, I have been doing a lot of cleaning out and getting rid of things I no longer need, want or wear.

Same here! I'm totally going towards a minimalist approach when it comes to clothes. Definitely agree, I would rather spend money on quality items than having multiple poor quality items! Your outfit is so on point and a perfect example of minimalism! Love your Nikes!

I definitely get what you say about moving towards minimalistic clothes, lately I have been eyeing more minimalistic clothes too! I mean, I still love florals, pinks, frills and such, but I definitely love how a minimalistic look looks!
These pictures turned out really beautifully ( props to your photographer) and you look as stylish as per usual! You go girl! 🙂

always love your style, onee-san 😀
how adorable you are, you really know how to mix and match many various fashion items (your clothes & shoes) in one outfit to go, I admire you too for being yourself. Minimalist style is always good on you 🙂 keep inspiring us with your own magic 🙂
btw i love the running shoes, im thinking to get a new one this month
Wahhh~ Beautiful as always! I've really been liking the minimalist approach too. I've donated so many cheap, low quality clothes that I've literally only worn once :/ In the end, it's not worth it!
Oh you look lovely Samantha! Minimalism fits you like a tee! Definitely you have that chic and avant-garde look down pat, a true beauty with amazing fashion sense! Oh I can't get enough of your hair, I've had long bobs with bangs before but I never looked nearly as good as you dear!! Hope your week is going on well! 🙂 xo~ Lena
great look, as always
