Searching for inner peace – Kamakura

Yesterday, I spent my Saturday morning observing and exploring the temples in Kamakura, Engakuji and Tokeiji to be exact. It was a bit gloomy and showering with rain in the morning, but soon became sunny by the afternoon. My first stop at Engakuji had me huffing and panting slightly at the end when I went to see the Ogane Bonsho, the temple bell gong, the largest in the monastery. After my little hike, I enjoyed the amazing view of Kamakura before I made my next stop at Tokeiji. Tokeiji, to me, was more like a beautiful garden than a temple – the last few photos of the temple are my favorites of the day.

Was I able to find inner peace? I don’t know, but it was a great experience that left me refreshed and energized for another work week ahead.
