A Japanese summer is not complete without a summer festival, also known as “matsuri” in Japanese. My mother and grandparents used to take my brother and I to the matsuri every summer we visited Japan. The endless street food vendors, toys, games and the bon-odori and taiko performances have always fascinated me as a child, and even now as an adult. This matsuri I attended yesterday is the Tanabata Matsuri to celebrate the reunion of Orihime and Hikoboshi, who can only meet once a year on July 7th. This is probably one of the biggest matsuri in Saitama, and I just can’t get enough of the lively atmosphere despite the immense humidity!
This year, some of my friends and I got together for a BBQ, and was later surprised with a beautiful birthday cake, gifts and flowers. I don’t think I’ve ever been surprised this many times in one birthday – I am truly a lucky girl 🙂 I am always grateful to be surrounded by such kind & giving people. Thank you so much♡
