Amazon Fashion Week Tokyo 2017 Autumn/Winter is not quite over yet, but since I won’t be attending any more shows for the week due to my work schedule, I decided to do an early recap of the shows I did attend. Fashion Week always proves to be an exciting and inspiring experience, from the runway shows to seeing the other attendees’ fashion. Even though spring is just around the corner and while I am ready to push aside the heavy coats and scarves, these collections got me skipping forward to the next autumn/winter season.

HARE 2017 Collection

Because 90% of the shows are located at Hikarie in Shibuya, I was surprised when the invitation for the HARE collection was to be held at a venue in Shinagawa. To my surprise, the venue and the show turned out to be a lot better than expected – there was at least 3 times more space for the runway and guests, making it a very energetic and interesting show for even more guests to enjoy. After viewing this show, HARE has quickly become one of my favorite ready-to-wear brands for the color schemes, use of beautiful furs, and the oversized silhouettes, especially for the women’s collection. For more photos from the runway, go to Fashionsnap.com.

もっと写真を見たい方はFashionsnap.comをご覧ください。

ACUOD by CHANU 2017 Collection

The ACUOD by CHANU show was by far my favorite execution and collection. I actually had the opportunity to meet Chanu, the designer, a couple months back. I was so surprised when I found out he is still a student at the prestigious Bunka Fashion College! Having already presented a his collections at Fashion Week as a student is quite unheard of, and I was blown away by his runway show. He had a human beatboxing and dancer duo KAIRI & GENDAI as the opening act (which was amazing, by the way), followed by the runway and one of the models standing in the middle of the runway throwing joker cards as the finale. As you can see, the theme for his collection was black & white, and his style is characterized by the joker-like masks, chains and zippers for the ultimate edgy street style look. So much creativity and originality in one show. Bravo! For more photos of the show, go to Fashionsnap.com.

もっと写真を見たい方は、Fashionsnap.comをご覧ください。

VIVIANO SUE / IIMISA 2017 Collection

Viviano Sue is the designer for House of Viviano Sue based in Tokyo. He is a graduate of Bunka Fashion College, and started his career in fashion by designing bridal wear and couture, but now he also designs for prêt-à-porter. The theme for this collection was “plumage,” which was portrayed by the beautiful feathered headpieces that were designed by IIMISA. The collection also incorporates high quality furs, lace and wool designs inspired by nature. The intricate handiwork in the headpieces and the voluminous silhouettes really drew my attention. Such a dreamy and inspirational collection! For more photos, go to Fashionsnap.com.

もっと写真を見たい方は、Fashionsnap.comをご覧ください。

Am I blown away? Yes! Why? Because I apparently have a soft spot for anything Japanese and it’s not without a good reason. Japanese design, craftsmanship and culture is beyond inspiring and as for someone who hasn’t even been to Tokyo, going to FW in Tokyo will actually be on my bucket list (after first having visited it and ticking off all the touristy stuff I want to see as well). As for the collections HARE caught my attention as they had furs for men, something I’ve been longing for and looking for all over. Now I know where to find one! Thanks for a lovely recap, Samantha!

This looked like a fun event. Looks like a fantastic collection! It’s always good to see menswear on the runway. If only my husband wasn’t built like a linebacker with huge quads. lol These would not suit him, but I still enjoy seeing innovation with mens apparel, and this collection looks great.
