NYC – the city of dreams, never-ending energy, and so much life. I can’t believe it’s already been 2 weeks since I visited this amazing place, and going through the photos really had me missing all of it. On Saturday morning, I hopped onto the plane at 6 A.M. with 2 hours of sleep, and the rest of the weekend was just non-stop from there. After leaving my luggage at her apartment, my best friend from high school introduced me to her neighborhood in Williamsburg before we took the ferry out to Dumbo. Within 5-10 minutes, there was already so much street art, stylish cafes, bars, and just really cool buildings and architecture overall. I especially enjoyed the hot ginger & turmeric drink and the chicken pot pie from Butler Cafe. The barista was so nice that he offered us a slice of their homemade chocolate cake as well!

After taking the ferry from Brooklyn, I had my first NY pizza at Juliana’s, probably the most amazing pizza I’ve ever had. The atmosphere of the restaurant was extremely cozy and friendly, somewhere I’d love to dine at again. Afterwards, we trekked over to the forever-bustling Times Square. So many a time I’ve seen this on TV or in moves, and to finally see Time’s Square with my own bare eyes was a dream come true. Living in a big metropolitan city for the past 5 years, you’d think I’d be used to a site like it, but just the opposite. Everything about New York just emits a different kind of energy, and despite the bitter February cold, I wanted to see more of the magic it had to offer.

I’ll be posting even more photos from day 2 of my stay in New York. Still dreaming of the Big Apple…

How fun. It looks like you crammed in some amazing spots on a short trip to New York! I love the vibe of the city. It’s easily accessible and you get so much incredible art, food and entertainment. If I could live anywhere in the world, New York would probably make my top 2 spots.

The last time I visited New York was a few years back. I went during the biggest snow storm of the decade. Haha. I didn’t really have too much of fond memories because it was so dang cold. Your photos make me want to revisit just so I can really experience the New Yorker life.

Williamsburg is so much fun, definitely a more chill vibe compared to bustling Manhattan! I’ll have to check out the pizza joint next time, usually for us we just go to Greenwich Village and walk into a hole in the wall place for a slice or two; for some reason it’s always tasted amazing! Haha~ looking forward to your next new york post! Have fun Samantha! 🙂 xo~ Lena

Ahhhh you make me miss NYC just with these photos. My dad was born and raised in Greenwich Village, so we visited twice when I was a little girl, just for a day, to see where he grew up and went to school, but I’ve never been as an adult. I want to just go and shop and see everything so badly now! I’m glad you finally got the chance to experience it all!

Seeing your images really makes me miss NYC and it’s been quite a few years since I’ve been on Times Square. Just like you said, especially you living in Tokyo and used to seeing places like this, there’s something about Times Square that simply takes your breath away. It’s so rooted in our culture through all movies, historical events, art, fashion, you name it. And that NY pizza! I definitely want a slice of that! 🙂
Thanks for beautiful images and can’t wait to be there in July!
